WORK STATUS OF WOMEN AND AGE AT MARRIAGE IN COIMBATORE CITY: A MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS
(Tata Institute of Social Sciences, 1997-01) Sheela, J; Audinarayana, N
Describes a study which finds that the work status of women before marriage has a direct bearing on their age at marriage, and has a moderate influence through the time taken to initiate marriage after menarche. Education status of women has exhibited a greater role in influencing the age at marriage through the time taken to initiate marriage after menarche (indirect effect rather than its direct effect).

TOXIC EFFECTS OF NICKEL SULPHATE ON EMBRYONIC MICE (EXPOSED MALE: NORMAL FEMALE)
(ASOC for The Advancement Of Zoology-India, 1999-06-01) Pandey, R; Kumar, R; Singh, SP; Srivastava, SP
Mating between Nickel Sulphate treated male mice and normal female mice resulted in a decreased number of foetus, weight of foetus and length of foetus. But there is no accumulation of Nickel Sulphate in embryonic mice. The number of corpora lutea increased and fertility reduced in female mice. Our aim was to determine male mediated toxic affects of Nickel on embryonic mice.

EFFECT OF INDIGENOUS DRUGS ON GLUCURONOGLYCAN METABOLISM IN DIABETIC HYPERTENSIVE RABBITS
    (Pub Med, 1993) Kumari K S; Devi K S
Development of hypertension further exaggerated the deranged level of total glucuronoglycan (GAG), different fractions of GAG, activities of synthetic and degradative enzymes of GAG and biological sulphation observed in diabetic rabbits. Administration of indigenous drug preparations (nisakathakathi Kashayam and rasnairandadi Kashayam and its mixture) ameliorated the diabetic hypertensive condition by reversing these effects and thereby arrested.

PHOTOCHEMICAL SYNTHESIS OF S-TRIAZOLO[3,4-B]BENZOTHIAZOLE AND MECHANISTIC STUDIES ON BENZOTHIAZOLE FORMATION
    (University of Madras, 1997-08-22) Jayanthi G; Muthusamy S; Paramasivam R; Ramakrishnan V.T; Ramasamy N.K; Ramamurthy P
A general photochemical synthesis of s-triazolo[3,4-b]benzothiazoles from 4,5-disubstituted 1,2,4-triazole-3-thione is described. Steady photolysis, quantum yield determination, and laser flash photolysis experiments have been carried out. An intramolecular electron transfer mechanism has been proposed

LIVING ARRANGEMENTS OF THE ELDERLY WOMEN IN A RURAL SETTING OF SOUTH INDIA: PATTERNS, DIFFERENTIALS AND DETERMINANTS
(International Review of Modern Sociology, 1999) Audinaryana N; Sheela J; Kavitha N
Living arrangements of the rural female elderly in India is at the state of deplorable condition Findings from selected villages in southern India suggest that a large proportion of the elderly widowed women live with children, whereas slightly more than half of the married live by themselves (i.e., with spouse only). Birvarate analysis reveal that while the increased monthly income and availability of surviving children are likely to encourage the older people to co-reside with their own children, irrespective of marital status, higher occupational status of the elderly reduces the co-residence with children among widowed. The logistic regression analysis highlighted that women with higher monthly family income, not working, suffering with physical disability and belong to lower caste tend to increase the probability of living with children. On the other hand, the tendency to live with children among the currently married elderly women has increased with the availability of son and their level of education.

STRUCTURE, COMPOSITION, DIELECTRIC, AND AC CONDUCTION STUDIES ON TIN SELENIDE FILMS
    (Wiley‐VCH Verlag/Physica Status Solidi (a), 155 (2), 405-416, 1996-06-16) Suguna P; Mangalaraj D; Narayandass K; Meena P
Al‐SnSe‐Al thin film capacitors were fabricated onto well cleaned glass substrates by thermal evaporation under a pressure of 2 mPa. Multiple beam interferometry (MBI) was used to measure the thicknesses of the SnSe films. The composition and structure of SnxSe1‐x films were analysed using Rutherford backscattering spectrometry and X‐ray diffractogram, respectively. The capacitor samples were stabilised by aging and annealing. The variations of the dielectric constant and loss as a function of frequency at different temperatures were observed and the results are discussed. AC conduction studies reveal that the conduction mechanism is due to hopping of holes. The activation energies were also calculated.

DIELECTRIC, CONDUCTION AND BREAKDOWN STUDIES ON EUROPIUM FLUORIDE THIN FILMS
    (Elsevier/Thin solid films, 252 (1), 67-73, 1994-11-15) Meena P; Balasubramanian C; Narayandass K; Mangalaraj D
Thin film capacitors of Al-EuF3-Al were formed onto well-cleaned glass slides by vacuum evaporation under a pressure of 2.66 × 10−3Pa. The structure of the europium fluoride film was found to be amorphous. From aging studies of the capacitor, it was found that the capacitance becomes almost constant after about 60 days. Two cycles of annealing at 353 K were required to stabilize the film. A large increase in capacitance was observed in the low frequency region, indicating the possibility of interfacial polarization. The frequency dependence of tan δ at various temperatures shows a loss minimum which shifts to higher frequencies with increasing temperature. The activation energy was calculated. The frequency dependence of conductivity and the low value of the activation energy suggest that the conduction mechanism is due to electronic hopping. D.c. conduction studies reveal a space charge conduction mechanism in europium fluoride films. The dependence of breakdown field on thickness and the temperatures show that this film obeys the Forlani-Minnaja theory.

CONDUCTION STUDIES ON EUROPIUM OXIDE THIN FILMS
    (Wiley‐VCH Verlag/Physica Status Solidi (a), 135 (1), 207-214, 1993-01-16) Meena P; Balasubramanian C; Narayandass K; Mangalaraj D
Conduction studies are carried out on Eu2O3 thin film capacitors. From the ac conduction studies the dielectric constant is found to decrease with increase of frequency (< 1 MHz), but at very high frequency (> 1 MHz) it is found to increase. The ac conductance is found to be proportional to f at low frequencies, whereas a square‐law dependence is observed at higher frequencies. The activation energy decreases with increase of frequency and increases with increase of temperature. The dc conduction studies reveal a space‐charge limited conduction in this film. The density of free electrons, the density of trapped electrons, and the mobility of free electrons at different temperatures are calculated and the results are discussed.

STRUCTURE, AGING, ANNEALING, AND DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF EUROPIUM OXIDE THIN FILMS
    (Wiley/Physica Status Solidi (a), K97-K100, 1991) Meena P; Balasubramanian C; Narayandass K; Mangalaraj D
Since very few reports are available on europium oxide (Eu2O3) thin films, further investigations on structure, aging, and annealing of Eu2O3 films are necessary. Hence the present study deals with the structure, aging, annealing, and dielectric properties of Eu2O3 thin films formed by vacuum evaporation.
