Item CORPORATE LEVERAGE AND ITS IMPACT ON PROFITABILITY AND SHAREHOLDER VALUE CREATION IN THE INDIAN TEXTILE SECTOR(Indian Journal of Finance, 2014-12) Vijayalakshmi D; Padmaja ManoharanShareholder value creation has become the trait of corporate dialect. The LPG era has made a drastic change in the financing policies of the corporate firms warranting a redesign in their capital structure. Leverage plays an essential role in framing the capital structure. The focal gain of the insertion of fixed cost funds in the capital structure has a domino effect on higher profits. The textile sector is a capital intensive sector, where a greater emphasis has been given in framing the capital structure. In this backdrop, the present study made an attempt to examine the impact of leverage on profitability and shareholder value creation in the Indian textile sector for the period from 1995-96 to 2009-10. A panel data approach was applied to analyze the data. The study revealed that leverage had a significant influence on profitability, and the sector has to concentrate on enrichment of shareholders' wealth.Item IMPACT OF IMPORT, EXPORT AND GDP ON THE OVERSEAS DIRECT INVESTMENT FROM INDIA(Our Heritage Journal, 2020-02) Vijayalakshmi D; Shalini K Menon“Never depend on a single income. An Overseas direct investment is one such platform wherein individuals and companies can invest abroad and take advantage of the benefits of such foreign investment. This paper has analysed the performance of Overseas Direct Investment from India over the last 10 years and has examined the macroeconomic determinants that influence the ODI. The ADF test, Johansen Cointegration test, VAR methodology and Granger Causality test have been employed in the study to analyse the data. Global economic environment has been developing by an increase in level of exports than imports in the international trade.The fluctuations in mercandise trade affects the economic growth of the country. Exchange rate is a vital component for every international trade transactions in the country.It greatly influences the prices of goods and services.The fluctuations in exchange rate will hinder the inflow of international trade due to the uncertainity movement and creates risk for the traders. Trade balance remains deficit due to an increase in level of imports in recent years. Trade policies have been formulated to regulate to reduce trade barriers for the exporters and importers. A large depreciation in the value of rupee affects the exporters and importers . In this background there is a need to explore the percentage growth of exports,imports and trade balance in an Indian economy.Item RURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP: A REVIEW OF INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS INFLUENCING THE PERFORMANCE OF MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM MANUFACTURING ENTERPRISES(Our Heritage Journal, 2020-02) Vijayalakshmi D; Rajalakshmi G.REntrepreneurship development in rural areas is increasingly seen as a promising alternative to traditional economic development. The Micro, Small and Medium manufacturing enterprises play an imperative role in the rural economy. They have a major share of contribution towards Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through 45 per cent manufacturing output, 40 per cent exports and 69 per cent employment. Apart from economic aspects, the social role of these enterprises have also been quite significant for achieving the objectives such as removal of poverty, reduction in income inequality, wealth, consumption standard and regional imbalances (Uma Pujar, 2014; Dipanjan Chakmraborty and Barman, 2014). However, the survival and growth of rural Micro, Small and Medium manufacturing enterprises have greatly depended on the dynamic business environment in which it operates. Hence, the study presents a review of the literature on Micro, Small and Medium manufacturing enterprises incepted in rural areas and stated that rural entrepreneurship is a distinct area of entrepreneurship research and practice, with abundant opportunities for balanced regional development.
