    AN EMPIRICAL STUDY ON PROBLEMS FACED BY WOMEN EMPLOYEES IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO COIMBATORE CITY

    This paper outlines the various problems faced by women employees in Information Technology industry with special reference to Coimbatore city. The introduction of computer-based technology into clerical work can build on women's skills, and may have given them new opportunities to enhance human skills. But in today’s world where a woman wants to support her family financially and is trying to balance her personal and professional life she is facing a lot of problems related to work, their kids and lot of personal problems. There is lot of physical, psychological, medical effects, discrimination at the work and it affects her work as well as family. For the purpose of research the sample of 120 people, who are working in Information Technology industry in Coimbatore has been considered. The primary data has been collected using the questionnaires. Descriptive type of research design & Convenience sampling method has been used. The research work reveals that most of the respondents are facing various physical and psychological problems due to their nature of work. Suggestions have been given, which would help the women employees to overcome their problems.

    HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRIES

    Human resources play not only significant but also a crucial role in building and developing an organization. Development of human resources is needed for any organization also plays an important component for the success of organisation. This study has assessed the current state of Human Resource Development practice in IT sector. It has been carried out with secondary and primary data. The Primary data were collected with the help of structured questionnaire from the respondent at managerial level. The questionnaire helped us to understand the different aspect of HRD such as recruitment & selection, training & development, performance appraisal, career planning, team spirit and employee participation. A number of HRD techniques have been developed in recent years to perform the above task based on certain principles. This will provide an understanding of the concept of HRD system, related mechanisms and the changing boundaries of HRD. The industries must realize that enlightened members, competent office bearers and employees are their own need and no one from outside may be expected to support activities to build such human resources for them. The goal of the study was to study the nature and extend of HRD practices in software industries and study the perception of employees about these HRD practices.

    INDIAN ECONOMY AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

    The Indian economy is the sixth largest economy with a vast developing mixed economic status. Women lay a major role in the economy of the nation by participating in the various sectors. Women empowerment is much more than realizing the work a woman does in equivalent to the work of a man, it’s much more than obtaining the right to a certain occupation. This paper contracts the statistical report of the growth level of women entrepreneurship in Indian economy and the various obstacles that they face. Women in India represent 29 percent of the labor force, down from 35 percent in 2004. The main advantage of women empowerment is that there will be an overall development of the society. Women empowerment in India is dependent on many different variables like education status, geographical status and age. This paper offers deep understanding of the women entrepreneurs, their needs that they deprive for, women’s access to education, educational attainment and statistical report representing the barriers faced by women entrepreneurs at different dimension and some bright spots where women shine brightly.

    Financial Inclusion, broadly defined, refers to universal access to a wide range of financial services at a reasonable cost to low-income segments of society Financial inclusion is an innovative concept which promotes the banking habits among the financially excluded people and enables to reduce poverty and the launch of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) by Government of India is in that direction. It enables to reduce the gap between rich and poor population. In the current scenario financial institutions are the robust pillars of progress, economic growth and development of the economy. This scheme is not confined to opening of bank account but has other advantages blended with it such as Zero Balance bank account with RuPay debit card, Accidental Insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh, Life Insurance cover of Rs 30,000, etc. This paper is an attempt to identify the awareness of the rural people of Coimbatore about the newly launched scheme Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

    Retail is the largest private industry globally but still in it nascent stage in India. In our country, modern food retail formats are still limited to a few cities or regions. Food retail industry is not supported by modern food distribution and logistics solutions. 40% of the perishable foods produced in the country get rotten during transportation due to the absence of an efficient cold chain. Lack of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) status has largely limited capital investment in supply chain infrastructure, which is a key for development and growth of food retailing and has also constrained access to world-class retail practices. India is one country, but in reality, it has 28 very different markets each with its own tastes and shopping habits, understanding this diverse market and the constantly evolving consumer is the biggest challenge

    A STUDY ON ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS TOWARDS GREEN PRODUCT USAGE WITH REFERENCE TO COIMBATORE CITY

    As the ecological issues are getting worse, the consumers’ concerns about the environmental consciousness have led to the diversification in consumer buying approach towards a green product usage. Therefore, firms are taking action to develop potential ecological approaches in the green market industry. This paper is an attempt to explore the environmental conscious towards the green products usage and to investigate the relationship between consciousness towards the green products. The objective of the study is to understand the awareness level of the consumers on Green products in Coimbatore. Primary data was collected through the questionnaire from 150 respondents. Secondary data was collected from various published sources. The first section gives an over view on the importance of environmental consciousness, the second section analyses the awareness level of the consumers third section deals with the factors influencing green product usage followed by the findings of the study and conclusion. It is found that the consumers in Coimbatore are aware of environmental problems and green products usage in the market but the attitude and behavior towards the green purchase is not improved.

    JOB STRESS, PSYCHOLOGICAL EMPOWERMENT, AND JOB SATISFACTION AMONG THE IT EMPLOYEES IN COIMBATORE

    Psychological empowerment was defined from the perspective of individual employees which was characterized by a sense of perceived control, perceptions of competence, and internalization of the goals and objectives of the organization (Menon, S.T 1999 ) Psychological empowerment is a multifaceted construct reflecting the different dimensions of being psychologically enabled, and is conceived of personal control, a proactive approach to life, and a critical understanding of the socio-political environment, which is rooted firmly in a social action framework. The role played by the software industry in the contemporary world aroused the need for understanding the relationship between job stress, psychological empowerment and job satisfaction with special reference to software industry. The tool for the study was a questionnaire comprising of twelve items on psychological empowerment, fifteen items on job stress and twenty items on job satisfaction on a five point scaling ranging from strongly agree (5) to strongly disagree (1). Data was collected from a sample of 64 respondents from four software companies in Coimbatore. Being satisfied with the reliability of the research instrument the researcher carried out parson T-test, ANOVA, and regression to understand the relationship between Job stress, psychological empowerment and job satisfaction

    DIFFERENCE IN PSYCHOLOGICAL EMPOWERMENT PERCEPTION AMONG FEMALE EMPLOYEES WORKING IN IT INDUSTRY

    In this study, difference in psychological empowerment perceptions among female employees working in IT industry is presented, Employee empowerment was measured using a 12-item scale developed by Spreitzer. The questionnaire covered four dimensions: meaning, competence, self-determination and impact, A study applied to 150 female employees working in BPO in Coimbatore. The data were solved using percent, mean, Standard deviation. t-test and ANOVAs. As a result of this analysis; it has been found that there is a statistical difference in psychological empowerment perceptions among female employees according to their income level in IT sector. In addition, this result, it has been seen that there is no statistically significant difference according to their age, year of experience, marital status and family size.
