dc.description.abstract | Exports of agricultural products are important component of the country’s agrarian scene. Its present position in the Indian Economy is quite significant as exports contribute a great deal to the development of an economy through the foreign exchange earnings. India is a land of spices where many varieties are grown in different regions of the country. The nation is not only the big producer and consumer of spices but also a major player in international market, exporting the surplus and importing the deficit. Spices exports were up 16% in value to Rs. 4,880.56 crores during April- Dec 2010. This increase in the total value realization was mainly driven by a spurt in the price of spices in the global market. This paper will emphasize on the export performance of major Indian spices which contribute to the nation’s total exports. | en_US |
