Abstract

Short term (48 h) hypoxic stress increased the aerial respiration and depressed the aquatic consumption. Long term (15 and 30 days) stress increased the aerial respiration and reduced the aquatic respiration. The total respiration declined at all times of exposure. It appears that respiratory depression is an effective strategy to combat hypoxic stress in Macropoduscupanus
