Item MORALITY AND MYTH IN SELECT POEMS OF CAROL ANN DUFFY;S THE WORLD’S WIFE(Folklore Resources and Research Centre, St. Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai, 2015) A, Dhanalakshmi; M S, Janani PriyatarsiniThe word Myth is derived from Greek term “mythos” which referred to a story or plot that could either be true or invented. Mythology is explained by M H Abrams as “a system of hereditary stories of ancient origin that were once believed to be true by a particular cultural group, and which served to explain why the world is as it is and things happen as they do, to provide a rationale for social customs and observances and to establish the sanctions for the rules by which people conduct their lives” This paper traces the mythical elements that are present in the select poems of Carol Ann Duffy.
